"After reviewing the results of a six (6) year investigation into the tragedy at Waco, Texas, I am convinced that the American people have never been told the full truth about that matter. There are times when you can not keep your job and put alternative explainations for data on the table."
- Dr. Frederic Whitehurst (Former FBI agent for 16 years. He worked at the FBI Crime Laboratory in Washington for 12 years.)
"Having served with the FBI's hostage negotiation team during this crisis, April the 19th would mark the end of one of my duties and the beginning of another. Unknown to me, my life was about to change forever as I would come to know what failure is."
- Fariss Rockstool (Former FBI Agent on-scene April 19, 1993)
"To me that would be an offensive gesture. When you enter someones home thats pretty offensive, and I would personally have a problem with that. I think that it violates everything that I've been taught that you don't use the military against civilian personnel in this country."
- Captain David Byrnes (Texas Rangers, retired)
Statement regarding the FBI writing on the church windows. "I said, I had heard that you guys had wrote on some of the windows there at Mount Carmel that 'We see you David'....etc., and I asked the agent, was this true, and he said, yea it's true. I said well arn't you guy's worried that when this is over the news media might see this and think it a little antagonistic on your part. He just looked at me and walked away. As a peace officer, your trained that killing people and taking someone's life is the absolute last thing that you ever want to do. You signed on to help people, you didn't sign on to kill them."
- David Keys (Texas Highway Patrol on-scene April 19, 1993)
"The entire thing is not worth one of those children getting hurt."
- J.R. "Ronny" Brownlowe (Henderson County Sheriff - dealt with Koresh)
Thy were "Grinding up all the crime scene, and I'm saying to myself, well, what in the hell are they doing that for, except for one, they're conviently trying to cover up for something they don't want the public to know."
- Dennis Sculimbrene (Former FBI Special Senior Liaison Agent, White House.)
"You have, in essence, a crime scene that was so seriously flawd through ignorance or through an error of an ellite mantality, or in fact there was a conscience decision made to not collect evidence for any sort of serious examination other than to prove that the Davidians had weaponary and firepower enough to kill federal agents."
- Anonymous FBI
"The ATF needed the hero raid captured on tape to make it look like they are still needed for something. I agree that it was handled wrong from the beginning. I also feel bad for the agents on the ground who were merely following orders and paid the price. For that matter a lot of people paid the price at Waco for that FUBAR raid. After all, that was their life style and they had been there for a while. I didn't see anyone being held at gun point when the cavalry arrived. There were lot's of ways to handle this without killing the kids. With as much intel as was available on Koresh, there had to be better options. The local deputy could have knocked on the door by himself and asked Koresh to accompany him to town."
- Deputy Tom McClelland (Roberts County)
Statement regarding "Waco: The Rules of Engagement." "Some cops see the world through a peep hole, not getting the full picture of what's inside. 'Waco:The Rules of Engagement' is educational and yes, it affected law enforcement's image and ideals throughout the country. Let's not make the same errors in the future, or take for granted our options. What we do--or don't do--changes lives forever."
- Sergeant Robert Moultrie (Bartow Co., GA, S.O.)
"You seem paranoid in telling us that maybe the citizens of the United States might be pissed after seeing this film. Get a clue. Not only are citizens righteously angry, many of us in law enforcement saw this as murder of innocent women and children and want no part of any attempt to explain away how this was all a 'mistake' or blame the victims. Don't expect me to shed as much as one tear for my so called 'brother officers' of the ATF who got shot while laying siege to a church. If you want to act like a terrorist group and use the military against our own citizens, count me out!"
